CARE & MAINTENANCE
HOW TO KEEP YOUR ACACIA CHEVRON AT ITS BEST
Acacia Chevron is durable enough for daily kitchen use but like all hardwood it benefits from simple, consistent care. Here's what we tell every customer who buys an Acacia Chevron countertop from us.
Wipe with a damp cloth after use never leave standing water on the surface.
If oiled re-oil every 3 to 6 months with food-grade mineral oil to keep the grain sealed and fed.
For deeper protection apply a beeswax and mineral oil blend twice a year.
Light sand and re-oil every few years Acacia responds to refinishing better than almost any other wood.
The more you care for it the better it looks. That's the magic of real wood.
FINISH OPTIONS
CHOOSE HOW YOUR ACACIA CHEVRON IS FINISHED
Every countertop leaves our Sarasota workshop sealed and ready to install. You choose the finish that fits how you live in your kitchen.
Recommended POLYURETHANE Full waterproof seal with a glossy or satin sheen. The most protective finish creates a hard barrier between the wood and everything else. Best for: bar tops, around sinks, high-moisture areas.
HARDWAX OIL Water-resistant matte finish that soaks into the wood rather than sitting on top. Low maintenance, durable, and the most popular choice for Florida kitchens. Best for: everyday kitchen use.
NATURAL OIL Food-safe mineral oil the most natural finish available. Enhances the grain, easy to reapply at home, and safe for food contact. Best for: active kitchen countertops.
Not sure which finish is right for you? Call us or visit our Sarasota showroom we'll show you all three in person.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Have a question about Acacia Chevron specifically? Call us directly.
What is Acacia Chevron butcher block?
Acacia Chevron is solid Acacia hardwood cut and arranged in a classic V-pattern. The result is a geometric, eye-catching countertop that looks completely different from standard straight-grain wood. Same durability as Acacia — just a much more dramatic appearance.
Is Acacia Chevron good for kitchen countertops?
Yes — Acacia Chevron has the same hardness and durability as standard Acacia. It handles daily kitchen use, resists scratches, and responds well to oiling and refinishing. The only difference is the visual impact — which is significantly higher.
Can Chevron be used for islands and waterfall edges?
Yes,Chevron is one of our most popular choices for islands because the continuous V-pattern becomes a real feature of the kitchen. We can also fabricate waterfall edges at our Sarasota workshop, with the grain mitered at the corner so the pattern flows seamlessly down the side. Custom sizes and edge profiles are available on request.
Can I get a custom size Acacia Chevron countertop?
Yes — we cut all Acacia Chevron countertops to your exact dimensions at our Sarasota workshop. Sink cutouts, custom edges, and island overhangs are all available. Just include your measurements when you request a quote.
How do I care for an Acacia Chevron countertop?
Exactly the same as standard Acacia. Wipe spills immediately, re-oil every 3 to 6 months with food-safe mineral oil, and use a cutting board for heavy chopping. The V-pattern grain responds to oiling beautifully and gets richer in tone over time.
Is Acacia Chevron more expensive than standard Acacia?
Yes — the Chevron pattern requires more precise cutting and assembly than straight-grain Acacia, which is reflected in the price. However it remains significantly more affordable than other statement countertop materials like marble or engineered stone — with far better warmth and character.
